Sim racing for first-timers

A proper seat, a wheel that fights back and assists that keep you on the track. What to expect the first time you strap into a racing rig at Overtime Arena.

A racing simulator seat with a wheel and pedals in front of a screen.

Nobody needs to have raced before to enjoy the rigs. Here is what the first session looks like.

The seat

You sit low in a racing seat with a force-feedback wheel and a set of pedals. Force feedback means the wheel pushes back the way a real car does, loading up through a corner and going light when you lose grip. Within two laps you stop thinking about it.

The assists

Turn them on. Traction control, braking help and a racing line on the track keep a first-timer pointed the right way and out of the wall. Experienced drivers turn them off and chase tenths. Both can be on the same grid, which is what makes a group race work.

The race

Everyone in the group is on the track at once, same circuit, same lights. Pick a famous track, pick a car, and go wheel to wheel with the people you came with. The leaderboard shows who won and by how much, and the arena lap record is there for anyone who wants to chase it.

The league

A racing series is planned, with qualifying, races and a points table across a season and a podium at the finale. It is on the opening list; join it and you will hear when registration opens.

And when the group has had enough of the rigs, the multi-sport bays and the cage are a few steps away.
